Symphonetta Nbr. 17
Posted by Johnny in Classical, Instrumental on February 24th, 2008
For some time I’ve been thinking of doing acoustic guitar pieces. Not for the sake of the fingerpicking technique but more to find out about the composing. There is still a long way to go though – but hey, you have to do a first one to make it a start. Here it is, that first one.
I will do the full “orchestral” version another time. This take of only the acoustic guitar seemed okay to put online also.
Music by Johnny Hoeve.
STYLE: classical, guitar.
Elaine
This song may well be the start of a new songwriting demos album. Julian (Wilson) came with the idea to try some folk songs. Problem with me is that somehow it seems difficult for me to do recordings that are all in one style. There is always some sort of mix. Which might be a good thing when you’re the artist yourself. But might hamper selling the song. So here it is again: these recordings are my first “design” after the songwriting is done. If you are looking for songs, try hearing the song itself in YOUR style of music. Or simply ask for a chords, lyric and melody only version. Can be done.

STYLE: folk, country, pop, ballad.
Love Is To Bring Us
I recently came across this song idea in the folder Teenage Years. Which means that this song was written before I was 20 years old. The song idea was just me at the piano. I updated it to a pop ballad in – let’s say – Lenny Cravitz style.
PICTURE: the piano anno 2009 – if still there…(well not really true all the way, some of it – this is picture houseboat I lived in, now flooded and ready for demolition. I had to remove it but luckily I could sell ship for 1 Euro last summer)

STYLE: pop ballad.
Perfection
This song was originally intended as a country song. But the melody somehow reminded me of those early Jamaican recordings before Bob Marley & friends turned that music style into reggea and ska. So that’s how this latin/salsa recording came about. “Shall we dance?”
