We Should Stick Together
Sometimes songwriting is so interesting – well it is most of the time but sometimes it is even more so. I seem to remember I received the lyric for this song by email, but the writing of the melody took only picking up the guitar, play some chords and there it was. I really can’t remember working on this one…
Of course the recording is a different story. I tried a orchestral recording for a change and this may work for this hands-in-the-air-and-sing-along-y’all tune. It can however also be – you know – one of those cheek to cheek slow dancing tunes, the last dance at some wedding party saved for those in love – or ready to make up. But that’s for another recording one day.

Nice melody to lyric that Julian (Wilson) sent me one day. May not be the coolest tune you’ve ever heard but you may find yourself singing it one day. Let me know when…

Watch Out Nashville

It first seemed a bit – you know – just too much sayin’ you can easily conquer Music City USA – by just buying a ticket and go. People end up wasted there, or go back home, with their dreams shattered, doin’ anything else but country music… Some do make money from songwriting after all, but they are indeed… some. Could be their talent, their persistence, their luck. Whatever. Who am I to think people there are waiting for this?
Anyway, this song is about that. Not in so many words, but if you know of these stories then it may speak for you. As usual the song can be recorded in another way also. For this one I left out the acoustic guitar and brought in a horn section – not really traditional country style. The title itself, and parts played are country though. Go hear it, and see if you like this version.

No Problemas Senorita

The series of spanglish songs is now an “open” project and no longer just an idea – for the future, if ever the time, one day… The series of these songs will take some time to complete, though, cause this style of music is bit new to me, Not as a listener of course, but as the musican and songwriter I now have to explore some more.
No matter how cool and up to date the music I’ve checked in latin style, I like the guitar-man “romeros” best. And they are old, hundreds of years. This song can easily be done at some senorita’s open window, in moonlight – are these things still happening today? – and I promise that I’ll do such a version one day. But I thought it best to do a pop version first. O how I love seeing Ricky Martin doing this one…
Song by Johnny Hoeve
Style: latin, and – although not with this version – acoustic ballad
