Just Gettin’ Old

The challenge was the song’s title. Nobody wants to sing “I’m just gettin’ old”. And so how you gonna make this a fun-song to listen too? I tried speeding up the tempo a bit for someone that age, and during recordings was constantly thinking of Sean Connery for good inspiration. He don’t mind I guess… Discussion this song songwriter101.com: click here |

I Am Still Your Friend
Posted by Johnny in Country, Country Contemporary, Country Traditional on April 15th, 2009
First song with Ray Bertram (US). Ray is co-founder of the Back Country Connection, a group of songwriters plugging themselves online – and as I have been told more things to come up as they go along.
Song felt right for a mainstream country recording. As someone with his roots in pop and in Europe I still have to discover what all that country is about but I think I’ve gone one step closer with this one.
You decide though…
Song also is discussed at songwriter101 forum.
And what’s more: has a video…

Makes Me Wonder
If you really want the cryin and tear in my beer stuff of country music you have to hear Hank Williams – not the music coming from the Nashvillie starmaking machine as it is now. This song started off to see if that “hillibilly shakespeare” music could be updated somehow. A version with fiddle and all is coming up. But for now this sober recording must do.
Yes, I was walking in the woods while singing and playin guitar to this version – I had a pocket field recording device with me, and here’s the result… Okay, let’s do that make believe some more BUT be true true true…please.

Getting Tight With Loose Women

Nice funky and bluesy tune that could fit any blues artist – or even R&B and country performer. As a matter of fact the song started off as a sort of Hank Williams country blues tune but then developed into this BB King influenced recording. Can also be ZZ Top rock…
