Origami (Anyway You Fold Me)

Origami – Song by Wilson & Hoeve – Moonpub Music, the Netherlands 2010

Again a recording that I need to get familiar with hearing it online, also for repairs and who knows alternative version. Seems I’m a bit undecided these days… Working on it.

Note: Jules (lyrics) and me (music), we both still do not know what the song is about… As I understand it the lyric was written at work/the office – to ventilate frustration I guess. Does give meaning to song, must say. But without this knowledge, it’s the listener who decides what’s in it for him/her, the Bob Dylan way.

Song by Julian Wilson & Johnny Hoeve

STYLE: classic, singer songwriter, AC

You can make your assumptions
And your paper darts
And throw them down the office at me
You can fall on your knees
In an act of contrition
But I know it’s not somethin’ you mean

You can take your permissions
And your phantom needs
Forgive me if I fail to accede
As I stare out the window
And watch the leaves fall
I never hear a word that I need

Origami Origami
Why won’t you set me free?
Origami Origami
Anyway you fold me I bleed

Your far too close to me
To open your eyes and see
I know how I feel for you
It’s not how you feel for me

This is an older recording before my digital recordings period. I came across it again going through archive of old recordings, and think it may be a nice suggestion of how to cover this Elvis Costello song.

Anyway, you decide. Here’s link to live performance Elvis Costello on youtube

Symphonetta Nbr. 6

Symphonetta Nbr. 6 – Music by Johnny Hoeve – All rights Moonpub Music, the Netherlands – let me know
Get Adobe Flash player

——– I’ve lost count of how these Symphonetta’s are numbered. It’s in a folder on harddisk somewhere. Anyway when time is right I will sort them out. This is Nbr. 6 that I know ——–

Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orkest

What are Symphonetta’s?
At times it is just fun to play with the melodies and not having to think about the vocals, the lyric, the concept. The way the classical composers works. But I’m not musically trained, got my roots in pop, only play basic piano, so I can’t go really deep with this style of music. But I can still think up a melody. And they should be no longer than say 3 minutes – short classical style recordings, with only the instruments that an orchestra would use.

It means that these recordings can also be musical “scores” – for the musicians to play their parts. So they are demos yes, it only needs the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra to perform it…

I Am The Dreamer

This title already got nice comments from the Just Plain Folks forum and also from taxi.com where it was submitted to one of their listings. No forward unfortunately.

It has a interesting song structure and though it may not be one of the coolest recordings ever, Donna and me are quite proud of this one. Great AC (adult contemporary) song.

The lyric was actually a poem, not meant to be a song lyric. We will probably try another one this way (first the poem, then the song) some time later. Lots of people say a poem cannot be a song’s lyric. Seems nice trying to prove that idea wrong now and then.

Song by Donna Devine & Johnny Hoeve

Style: AC Adult Contemporary, any ballad, some latin
