Origami (Anyway You Fold Me)
Again a recording that I need to get familiar with hearing it online, also for repairs and who knows alternative version. Seems I’m a bit undecided these days… Working on it.
Note: Jules (lyrics) and me (music), we both still do not know what the song is about… As I understand it the lyric was written at work/the office – to ventilate frustration I guess. Does give meaning to song, must say. But without this knowledge, it’s the listener who decides what’s in it for him/her, the Bob Dylan way.
Song by Julian Wilson & Johnny Hoeve
STYLE: classic, singer songwriter, AC
You can make your assumptions
And your paper darts
And throw them down the office at me
You can fall on your knees
In an act of contrition
But I know it’s not somethin’ you mean
You can take your permissions
And your phantom needs
Forgive me if I fail to accede
As I stare out the window
And watch the leaves fall
I never hear a word that I need
Origami Origami
Why won’t you set me free?
Origami Origami
Anyway you fold me I bleed
Your far too close to me
To open your eyes and see
I know how I feel for you
It’s not how you feel for me
Waarom Ik Jou Nooit Meer Vergeet – W. Nelson COVER
I’m still in doubts if I should set up new site with dutch language songs only. But let me give it a go on Moonpub Music site (english) first and see how things develop.
As this is mainly a translation/Dutch language remake of Willie Nelson’s ALWAYS ON MY MIND it is not really important to make it a pefect recording – I think. I tried to stay close to the original meaning of the song – it is defenitely not a translation word by word; I tried to capture the meaning and mood of the song for dutch listeners, that’s all.
If you want to use this translation for your repertoire you’re welcome to do so. Just let me know though.
Some other covers for this song:
========================
- Jon Bon Jovi & Willie Nelson
- Shakira
- Elvis Presley
- Michael Buble
- Julio Eglesias
- Brenda Lee
- Chris de Burgh
- etcetra…

Hey. we’re talkin’ classic songwriting here, should be clear…
I Want To Vanish – Elvis Costello COVER
This is an older recording before my digital recordings period. I came across it again going through archive of old recordings, and think it may be a nice suggestion of how to cover this Elvis Costello song.
Anyway, you decide. Here’s link to live performance Elvis Costello on youtube

She Told Me

Sad songs say so much, Elton John sang. They do, yes. Here’s another one. Shirley (lyrics) didn’t want to do the song at first because she thought it was too sad. I could only convince her sayin it can also be looked at as a warning to every guy to be more careful with the one you love. She might not be there anymore one day. But, so sad, that’s too late now for the guy in this song. Buy him a beer and cheer him up…
